SOMETIMES EVEN TO LIVE IS AN ACT OF COURAGE.
you remember the outbreak. you remember it live on the television, news outlets across the globe reporting on the vicious cycle of death & rebirth – rebirth as something else entirely, something living but not, something hungry. you remember the fallout, how the downfall of civilization was much quieter than expected. you remember riots, smashed windows, and crashed cars. you also remember vines clinging to buildings and fields that seemed to span forever in a reclaimed emptiness.
the world is not what it used to be, but the apocalypse is forgiving, gentle, graceful. society still pushes on, a wildflower sprouted from a crack in the concrete. there’s establishment, groups of people, safety, a sense of hope. there are things you miss and things you don’t but the point is – you’re surviving, you all are, the question is: for how long.
